Can you Teach Responsibilty in Drug Rehab?(via Worldwide Drug Addiction News)

I think one of the more difficult things in a person's life has to be the parent of a grown child who is addicted to drugs and alcohol.  It is one thing to have life's random events go against a person, but it must be another level of personal hell to watch someone you love with all your heart and soul, choose and maintain a behavior so destructive to everything around them.  When talking to parents about drug rehab programs the level of pain in their voice is apparent to even the most unskilled of ears.

When asking the tough questions, it often becomes evident, the potential client has no level of personal resonsibilty.  The parent has tried repeatedly over many attempts and many years to teach this but to no success.  If a parent can have no luck over a long period of time, can a drug rehab center realy be able to teach this in as little as 30 days?

In one month? The answer is most times no.  To impact behavior on a permanent level just requires more time than this!  Can a rehab given a reasonable period of time teach the foundation of personal responsibility?  Yes, and the answer lies in it's ability to dictate structure.  By having a clear structure for clients to follow and the methods and staff available to check the behavior for complience, a rehab can do sometimes what a family has been unable to do, and it is going to take longer than a month.

The military has been doing this for years.  They call it basic training.  They do not have addiction to deal with.  Basic training always lasts longer than 28 days.  Is boot camp the solution to everything? No, but spending 2 to 3 months in a drug rehab center at least give you a "fighting" chance.
