Every day I talk to someone who thinks they are past fixing their life. Everything is damaged beyond repair. Drugs and addiction have pushed them into a hole of debt they can never get out of. It has damaged their relationships so they can never be restored. Their health is so compromised they will never recover. A drug rehab program may work for others, but there is no hope for them because EVERYTHING is damaged beyond repair. Everything is a failure, total and complete.
Perhaps you may have even met someone in this state along your journeys. They live in a black and white world, or maybe we may better call it trapped in a black and white world. Believing that it is hopeless, gives you an excuse not to try. Sometimes there is even the noble excuse of, "I'm not worth spending money on!" My response to this is one of a couple themes. One is go down to the library. Check out some of the life stories present there. It is full of people who have made it back from situations many times worse than yours. Remember the country you live in. That alone puts you ahead of 90% of the people in the world. You can read and write. You can learn. The drug addiction has not trapped you and kept you from drug rehab, your thinking has. Black and white is great on a piano, it is not so good as a way to view the world.
