Don’t Give Your Loved one Reasons to Leave Drug Rehab(via Worldwide Drug Addiction News)
Here is a simple suggestion. If you want your family member to stay and complete a drug rehab program, do not give them reasons to leave. This may seem obvious, but it happens often enough, that I feel the need to bring it up here. If your family member is going to stay at a drug and alcohol rehab center for 90 days, there are bound to be things in life happen. Aunt Martha for example may get very sick. Some crisis may happen in the family business.
When you are talking on the phone to your son, daughter, or spouse at rehab, you have to be careful to share only information that will suport them in completing their program. They cannot make aunt Martha better. In fact, in aunt Martha knew her illness was the reason for someone leaving drug rehab early, I'm sure whe would be upset and it would make her even more ill. So here is a suggestion. Unless you are 100% sure that the family member who is in rehab at the present time can solve the crisis, DO NOT TELL THEM. That may seem kind of harsh, but are you willing to RISK their life, in order to tell them about it. If they leave a program early, they are putting their life at risk. If you give them the reason to leave a drug rehab program early, you are at least, somewhat responsible.
If you do pass on the knowledge of a family crisis to someone at a drug rehab, do not expect the staff there to somehow get the client to stay. We are not miracle workers. Without real support from the family, clients will leave before they are ready.

Two Types of Excuses in Drug Rehab(via Worldwide Drug Addiction News)
There are always excuses involved in addiction and drug rehab. Things like, "you don't understand the pressure I'm under". I can't go to drug rehab right now, because I'm too busy at work and with my family. Given enough time, we can always find a "good reason" not to the things we need to move on in our life. The I'm too busy hanging on to my crappy life to work on improving it.
Even clients at a drug rehab center can find excuses. My favorite aunt is sick and I have to leave early. I think my wife is leaving me, and I have to go back and try to save my relationship. I think I have learned enough and I can save my family some money by leaving early. ( Funny how when buying drugs or alcohol there isn't a lot of concern about the family's finances. )
You know the great thing about excuses? They have no conscience. They can work both ways. You can use excuses to "justify" doing the right thing. How about, "I can always do those other things later, but now I'll just finish my drug rehab." I know there are things in my life I could be taking care of right now, but I'll be better equipped to do them after I go to drug rehab. I know I could spend the money on other things, but I think drug rehab is the best investment for me right now.
You see, if you realy want, you can use excuses to support you for doing the right thing. Why not take an old unhealthy habit and turn it into something that will support you. You already know how to make great excuses, so make up some the keep you in a drug and alcohol rehab program until you are done what you came to do, get sober.

Opiate Drug Rehab Vs. Cocaine Drug Rehab(via Worldwide Drug Addiction News)
Is it possible to be a specialized drug rehab that deals only with one specific type of drug addiction dealing with one specific drug? Is it beneficial to clients to consider a drug rehab like this. Well obviously it is possible to make a rehab like this. What would the advantages be? By creating uniformity you might be able to better serve your clients needs. Some clients might feel safer or more comfortable in a drug rehab that everyone has the same drug addiction as them. There may be some benefit in counselors totally focused in one area.
The real problem with this degree of specialization is that by creating so much uniformity, there becomes a danger of a "cookie cutter" approach to addiction. The "we have treated this a thousand times" and just do these steps, in this order and you are home free. The question arises though, are two clients with the same drug of choice and the same circumstances ever having the exact same addiction? Will what works for some clients work for all clients?
The point is it might be better to go to a facility that treats moer than one type of addiction and drug as they probably will have more experience and options to offer you. You want a variety of clients from all ages and walks of life. This will give you the greatest range of experience to draw from. There is no such thing as a typical person with a typical addiction. Drug rehab has to handle all types of clients.
